These after-hour events are designed to help kick-start your weekend early. Happy Birthday, Norman Rockwell!This special afternoon honoring Norman Rockwell’s 115th birthday will include selected readings from his autobiography, My Adventures as an Illustrator, gallery tours, and birthday cake for everyone. This celebration is part of Free Tuesdays at the Museum. Additional stories from Rockwell’s autobiography will be shared every Sunday at 3:30 p.m., February through April. |

In celebration of the 200th anniversary of Abraham Lincoln’s birth, actor Phillip Jessen brings this iconic figure—the subject of several portraits by Norman Rockwell—to life. Focus on Illustration Flights of Fantasy: Women, Myth, and ImageDiscover the fascinating world of fantasy art. Ruth Sanderson, illustrator and author of The Golden Mare, The Firebird and the Magic Ring, and The Snow Princess, will speak about depictions of women in fairy tales and myths. Breakout sessions include a tour of Artists in Their Studios, an adult hands-on art workshop, and a talk by art collectors Robert and Lynne Horvath. The program continues with illustrator Lynn Pauley’s presentation, The Visual American, and a gallery talk on Rockwell’s depictions of women in roles of strength. Presented in partnership with the Women in the Arts Festival, organized by Bard College at Simon’s Rock. Free with Museum admission. |
